Touchscreens can offer insights into the creation process of an art piece, while motion sensors might trigger visual or auditory effects, making exhibits more dynamic. These technologies can transform static objects into living stories, deepening the connection between the exhibit and its audience. From typography to color schemes, graphic design in spaces such as trade shows is an art in itself. For instance, consider how graphics in a museum exhibit about nature might use earthy tones, large images of landscapes, and engaging text layouts to educate and inspire audiences. But it’s not just about aesthetics; graphics can functionally aid navigation, making exhibits more visitor-friendly. What kind of interactive experiences could allow the visitors to engage with the stories to be told?

Whether designing a linear flow of content or making use of dramatic sight lines and reveals, we can arrange exhibits based on venue-specific requirements, client-driven narratives, and the expectations of audience experiences. We produce comprehensive layouts, floorplans, space studies, and flow studies to ensure all considerations are being met. From traditional object-based static displays to dynamic hands-on interactive exhibits and from immersive themed scenic environments to complex and comprehensive technology-based science exhibits—we collaborate with our clients to bring any vision to life. PARABLES FOR HAPPINESS by the London-based British-Nigerian designer Yinka Ilori features for the first time at the Design Museum in London.

Refining Their Artistic Voice

Students studying in this area add much needed critical research to the field, and are provided the tools, resources and action steps for academic and professional advancement in the exhibition design industry. We approach exhibition design from the standpoint of the user experience. UX Design is the process of enhancing user/customer satisfaction and experience through integrated technologies that immerse the visitor in the experience. Our background in attraction design provides us with a solid understanding of visitor experience when developing an exhibition or attraction.

Innovation and Technology

Exhibition design in Europe is considered as a meeting place for relationship building while in North America energy is spent on creating a sense of place and building community. The Broad presents a showcase of work by legendary American artist Andy Warhol, who is best known as a leading influence in the pop art genre. This installation takes the viewer through 26 of Warhol’s works, eleven of which are on view for the first time at The Broad.

Attention-Grabbing Mobile Exhibits

Whether you need one graphic or a new gallery, we’ll guide you step by step. We support the production department in the design of modular systems that can be easily transported and installed. We consider transportation, truck loading, and storage requirements in everything we do. Each chapter is defined by a key message, word, and summary paragraph. The trope “smoke and mirrors” demonstrates how designers deploy deception, illusion, and a little bit of magic to surprise and inspire people and transform experiential encounters.

This exhibition transforms three galleries at A+P to examine the street, home, and natural world from the perspective of Black feminist theory, considering the conditions of safety for Black women in these spaces. It’s presented in tandem with Fazlalizadeh’s CAAM installation Speaking to Falling Seeds, which showcases portraits of Black women from when the artist lived in L.A. This temporary exhibition at the California Science Center presents gorgeous color “portraits” of seaweed specimens, mostly through the perspectives of Indigenous peoples and women. As kelp forests decline along our coastline, it’s a good time to learn about the history and significance of seaweed in our local marine ecosystem. But there is still a long way to go toward gender equity in art museums. The A+D Museum explores the definitions of architecture and design, from the conceptual to professional practice.

Imagining Space in the 21st Century

Since 1987, we’ve been creating exhibits, events, trade show displays and permanent installations that convert prospects into customers. Each of our programs uses an advisory board to review content, guide design and recommend updates to ensure the program remains current as the field of study evolves. By tapping the minds of the top thinkers, doers and leaders in the field, we offer a transformational learning experience.

Architects can embrace exhibition design principles to craft public spaces, corporate environments, and even residential interiors that tell stories, engage the senses, and foster connections. Interactive installations have become pivotal components, inviting visitors to touch, listen, and participate. These installations transcend the role of observers and encourage active engagement, making the learning experience more immersive and memorable. Without design, trade shows would be overwhelmed by a cacophony of displays.

As well as using 3D modelling for initial concept designs and to understand sight lines, physical models are made and the team “cut out tiny images and play with them in the space”. Asked about shows that have inspired her, Pardo says that “you often learn from shows you like the least”—for example, avoiding the dreaded “exhibition shuffle”. By contrast, the galleries housing Lange’s Depression-era images were pared back, with bare stud walls, and skirting conspicuous by its absence.

It has the potential to tell us about how we are living and how we could be living. We can bring any idea to life, from trade show builds to museum installations and permanent displays. Our portfolio includes everything from a beer bar at Jaguar Stadium to a hockey jersey for a 20′ high Buddha. Let us help you stand out and make a statement with your next exhibit. If you’re ready to outshine your competition, we’re ready to execute.

Timeline and overview of exhibition design and the experience making process. Typically, the production of an exhibition is a team effort, involving a variety of participants with different objectives. Maintaining a consistent vision from start to finish in every project poses its own challenges. Consequently, I’m offering a brief guideline that could assist any team in steering clear of usual missteps while crafting compelling and captivating exhibitions. In designing the space, Butterfield looked as far afield as Peter Eisenman’s Holocaust memorial in Berlin, the ancient Karnak Temple at Luxor and the main gallery of Louvre Lens by Sanaa architects.

Augmented reality, virtual reality, and interactive touchscreens offer innovative ways to engage visitors. These technologies blur the line between the physical and digital realms, expanding the possibilities of storytelling. In the age of social media, visitors can be a powerful marketing tool. By crafting exhibits that are not just informative but share-worthy, companies at exhibitions can amplify their reach. An exhibition design that encourages selfies, check-ins, or uses AR for interactive storytelling turns every visitor into a promoter. This approach not only increases visibility but also fosters community engagement, allowing visitors to be part of the company’s or exhibition’s extended storytelling process.

All types of exhibits aim to communicate a message through engaging their audiences in meaningful and compelling interactions. Exhibition design is crucial in the digital age, offering tangible, immersive experiences that connect visitors to narratives. Beyond simply placing objects, it transforms spaces into interactive journeys, merging art with architecture. The importance of hiring skilled designers is emphasized, as they can craft spaces that effectively tell stories. Integrating technology and interactivity further elevates these experiences. Exhibitions should have clear objectives and be designed for visitor engagement while maintaining simplicity.
